First Deaf Starbucks @ Bangsar Village II, Malaysia
My team and I are very happy to hear about the Starbucks Malaysia first time to hired the Deaf Baristas who experienced to work in the Starbucks, and let the Deaf employees who managed a new outlet at Bangsar Village II, as they believe in the Deaf Starbucks baristas can do anything when they deal with the customers in Starbucks Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur! Thank you for PR and CSR Starbucks team who invited my team to visit their event which launched by Starbucks Malaysia. Not us only, they also invited Mr Sazali, president and the staffs of Malaysian Federation of Deaf (MFD), Deaf associations of members, RC Deaf Missions team, Deaf teachers & students and many...all related to Deaf community Malaysia.

They make this outlet become "Signing Store" now, has 10 Deaf employees and 3 hearing staff. First time, Starbucks Malaysia make a first history to make Mohammad Aizad who is Deaf who experienced Barista for 3 years, with Starbucks, that become first Deaf shift Manager for Starbucks Bangsar Village II!

"Since I joined Starbucks three years ago as a barista, my goal has been to become Starbucks Malaysia’s first Deaf store manager and after my recent promotion to shift manager, I’m well on my way to achieving this dream. It’s an incredible feeling to share my journey and help develop other deaf partners,” Aizad said.
This store is a collaborative effort with the Society of Interpreters for the Deaf (S.I.D) to facilitate the hiring, training and coaching of their Deaf partners, and to teach sign language to hearing employees at the store.Their focus is to enhance the livelihood of the Deaf by not only providing employment but also career opportunities for the Deaf community. And to grow and develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance through discoveries and experiences that will support and strengthen them intellectually.
My friends and I really enjoyed to explore around a very new Deaf Signing Store Starbucks @ Bangsar Village II, and get to know who are them too. I surprised that they are selling the different special things; new frosted glass mug, priced RM32, the limited edition with basic sign language of learning notebook priced RM35, and complimentary of keychain Starbucks with a minimum spend of RM30 in a single receipt!

Thanks to Starbucks Malaysia and media for spreading a very inspring news to the Deaf Community in Malaysia, included Deaf World, many Deaf & hearing tourists and friends also come to visit Deaf Signing Store @ Starbucks Bangsar Village II by Deaf Partners. Before this outlet on this year, Starbucks around the world that opened the opportunity to Deaf people who want to be Barista with Starbucks in the past time before, for example, a Deaf employee get a job in Starbucks South Korea.
