Deaf can watch YouTube with Subtitles and Closed Captioning


YouTube can provided the subtitle for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people around the world so they can enjoy to see the Youtube with English or another language subtitles!


Do you know what is "CC"?  It stands for "Closed Caption" where it allows the user to activate the text subtitle options on the video on YouTube with the video provided must have a subtitle that was created by a particular individual.

And YouTube has a new feature called Audio Captions. This means it can automatically identify the voice / audio that can change into the subtitle automatically without having to have people create a subtitle to the video. Below this photo, you can see (( and )) on YouTube, mean "Audio Captions". This service is still in Beta.


When you access the website, YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/, you can search what you like in search YouTube, then you can open it and see "CC" to be available or not on the YouTube. You try to click "CC" to change the language translation of "CC"There are the setting of "CC" - Transcribe Audio, Translate Caption and Turn Captions Off/On inside YouTube. In the Translation of Captions, get language subtitles: Bahasa Melayu, and English, that make you can watch YouTube with your favourite language!




But sometimes, if TV, drama or movie or what don't have CC and Audio Caption in Youtube... For example, you always type "Korean drama with English subtitle" in youtube search. It is normal for you always do this, correct? You don't have to do this because if you have Gmail account.

ow get the automatic subtitle (CC) on Youtube on everytime you access Youtube?

If you have Gmail account, you can login in YouTube with your Gmail account at YouTube website.

Step 1 - You click "Setting" on your Youtube website.


Step 2- After that, you click "Playback Setup"


Step 3 - In the Playback Setup, you can tick "Always show captions" and "Always show automatic captions". It mean you can see the automatic "CC" when you search Youtube website so easily!

    I think this is awesome! I may not be deaf but with the limited interaction with the deaf community that I have experienced, they are completely and understandably allowed to expect or request closed captioning. I think this is just one step closer to allowing the entirety of the internet to be available for everyone and that is always a good thing. I think this is just a little late but its better late than never.
